Recycled Plastic Bottles into Woven Plastic Tote Bags in Indonesia

Plastic waste is a big problem in Indonesia. The World Bank estimates that one-fifth of the country's plastic ends up in rivers and coastal waters. Every twenty minutes, approximately ten truckload of plastic is dumped into the sea in Indonesia. Indonesia is the world’s second-largest contributor to plastic pollutants in the oceans after China. One of many efforts to reduce plastic waste is recycling. We recyle plastic bottles and turn it into handwoven plastic bags. We educate people to collect their plastic bottles and bring it to plastic waste collectors for recycling. We buy plastic bottles from plastic waste collectors, make it into plastic flakes, before turning it into recycled plastic strapping band. We produce recycled plastic bags using these strapping band.
